Granite is one of the most solid and firm rock. It is used for construction purposes as coating material.
Granite is characterized by a
low water-absorbing quality and it is frost and dirt resistant.
That is why it is best for indoors and outdoors paving. Its solidness and
firmness, as well as a wide range of its texture abilities (the ability of getting high shine polish when the iridescent play of mica blotches
is revealed in the light; the sculptural expressiveness of unpolished rough stone absorbing the light)
make granite one of the main
materials in monumental sculpture. Granite is also used in interior design
for wall and stairs finishing, in making table tops and
columns, for decorating of staircases with
granite balusters and making flower pots, fire places and fountains coating. It is also used for
making monuments and as granite rubble.
